Steel structure design for a large-span industrial warehouse with crane systems and mezzanine floors. The design featured clear spans of up to 36 meters using portal frame construction, with integrated 10-ton overhead crane beams and a two-level mezzanine office area. Foundation design accounted for heavy dynamic loads from crane operations.
The warehouse required 36m clear spans with integrated 10-ton overhead cranes, creating significant dynamic loading and fatigue considerations. The site within Thilawa SEZ had variable soil conditions with soft clay layers extending to 15m depth, making foundation design critical for both static and crane-induced dynamic loads.
We designed optimized steel portal frames with haunched rafters at the knee connections to efficiently manage the large span moments. Crane beams were designed with dedicated crane columns to isolate dynamic loads from the main structure. The mezzanine office used composite steel-concrete floors for optimal stiffness. Pile foundations were designed with dynamic amplification factors per AISC Design Guide 7.
