Reinforced concrete structural design for a 10-story residential building with basement parking. The project included mat foundation design on soft clay, flat slab construction for efficient floor-to-floor heights, and shear wall systems for lateral stability.
The 10-story residential building required efficient floor-to-floor heights to maximize unit counts within the permitted building height. Soft clay soil conditions extended to 20m depth, and the single-level basement needed dewatering and waterproofing solutions for the high water table.
We selected a flat slab system with drop panels to minimize structural depth while maintaining punching shear capacity. Shear wall cores at stair and elevator locations provided lateral stability. The mat foundation distributed loads over the soft clay with acceptable long-term settlement, avoiding the cost of deep piles.
